Granada Again

How quickly time is flying! We have visitors from back home with us currently, then another wave will come next week, so I will be posting less often for a while, but I’m still here living the life.

We spent last weekend in Granada which was wonderful. The weather was perfect for wandering the city and we found some great tapas bars to explore. This week we’re hoping for continued sun and some walking tours of our little town, but the forecast is calling for periodic drizzle. We’ll see.

I’ll post when I can, probably not often, and get some pictures of Granada up at some point, too. Have a great week!

More pictures from our excursion to Cordoba last weekend. First, a promotional poster for the city. Second, we turned a corner in the patios neighborhood and found this statue of The Virgin relaxing in a little chapel. Finally, we relaxed by a fountain in the center while waiting for our bus home. It’s a cool city.

This is The Alhambra. I take no responsibility for this incredible picture, but it made me reminisce about the time we went to Granada and were able to see this little piece of history with our own eyes. Maybe we’ll go again and buy tickets in advance so we can go inside. Fingers crossed!

These are the real deal, everyone. Lauren actually made these. Maybe they didn’t get the professional photo studio time that the other ones I blogged got, but I can only hope she’ll make these for me next year.  :-)

This picture of the Canadian chain Tim Horton’s coffee and donut holes is in honor of my dear Canadian friends. They keep me speaking Spanglish in our emails back and forth and were part of my first international experience in Chile a few years ago.
In other, related topics, I imagine teaching the term “donut holes” to someone learning English would go something like this:
“They’re called donut holes.” “But isn’t a hole an empty space?” “Yes, but they fill the holes in donuts.”“Did someone make donuts and take these out of the middle?”“No, they’re made separately. It’s just imagery.”“Shouldn’t you call them hole-fillers or donut plugs or something then?” “Yes, but this is just what they’re called.”“Why?”“Because it is.”
English is great, no?

I don’t know if I want THIS pizza, but we saw people eating good old greasy, American pizza on television last night and now I’m craving some. Preferably Punch Pizza on Grand in St. Paul or Eden Pizza in the Hamline-Midway neighborhood (also in St. Paul), but I’d settle for going out and getting a Spanish-style pizza this week.

I follow other people’s blogs in addition to keeping up on my own, and some of them (okay, most of them) are about food. I saw these and thought of my brother who LOVES playing Wii. I’m sure he’d like these cookies, too.   :-)
